NG Road Racing kicks off at Brands Hatch this weekend

Monday, March 11 2019

The NG Road Racing season kicks off at Brands Hatch this weekend (16-17 March) with riders looking to start the 2019 campaign strongly and enhance their careers with a club that has a reputation for producing legendary riders such as Neil Tuxworth, Roger Burnett and Steve Parrish.

There will be up to 20 NG Road Racing championship races each day split into qualifiers and finals for each of the classes. That means some 8 hours of on track action each day.

The championships are hard fought and although they can never be won in round one, all of the riders will be determined to get a positive result after a long winter and nobody wants to be playing catch-up so will be keen to avoid any costly errors.

Last seasons top man was Josh Day on his ZX10 Kawasaki, but a host of new challengers on new machinery are out to topple last years Open and Powerbike double champion.

The Indy circuit may only be 1.2 miles long, but is notoriously challenging for riders with relatively short straights and tricky corners, not to mention the infamous Paddock Hill Bend that riders will crucially need to get right if they want to get a fast lap in or line up their opponents for an overtake at Druids.

The full list of NG race classes range from the teenagers on the F125's though to the 600cc and Powerbikes. Also on track will be Supermono series, Mini Twins, Sound of Thunder, Streetstocks, Pre Injections and Sidecars! There will be something for all tastes.

The 250 GP ACU National Championship will also feature on the racing programme, bringing a flavour of Grand Prix motorcycle racing to the circuit with an impressive selection of 250cc machines. As one of the country's strongest series for Grand Prix machines this should provide one of the meeting's highlights!

You can soak up the atmosphere of the opening round by heading down to the paddock, which is free of charge to the public and is a great opportunity to check out the machines up close and chat to the riders between races.

Tickets for the NG Road Racing Championships at Brands Hatch (16/17 March) are available online for £12 until midday on Wednesday or on the gate from £16 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
