Bennetts BSB FP3: Irwins lead final practice at Brands Hatch

Saturday, October 16 2021

Glenn Irwin led the charge of the brothers in the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free practice session at Brands Hatch this morning, firing the Honda Racing team to the top of the times by 0.033s ahead of his brother Andrew.

The times tumbled in the closing stages despite some spots of rain during the session, as the Irwins surged to the top to nudge the FHO Racing BMW teammates back into third and fourth with Joe Francis and Peter Hickman respectively.

Josh Brookes had led earlier in the session and he was fifth fastest on the leading VisionTrack Ducati, ahead of Lee Jackson and Jason O'Halloran as he bids to close down his McAMS Yamaha teammate in today's opening race.

Christian Iddon had also had a spell at the top during the session and he was eighth fastest on the second of the VisionTrack Ducatis with Kyle Ryde and Danny Buchan completing the top ten with the final flurry of fast laps in the closing moments.

Tommy Bridewell and Tarran Mackenzie only completed out laps, opting to sit out the session and wait for SUPERPICKS Qualifying.
