Bennetts BSB Qualifying: Mossey takes Brands Hatch pole

Saturday, October 16 2021

Luke Mossey claimed the final pole position of the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season with a masterful performance in changing conditions in SUPERPICKS Qualifying at Brands Hatch on his debut with TAG Racing Honda.

The positions continued to change at the top in the final Q2 session as rain continued to threaten on a damp track, with Mossey having the final edge after trading places at the top of the times with championship Tarran Mackenzie in the closing stages.

Mossey had the edge by 0.270s at the chequered flag, but Christian Iddon delivered an impressive final lap that pushed him from eleventh up the order and into second, nudging title rival Mackenzie into third.

Andrew Irwin was pushed off the front row; the SYNETIQ BMW rider saving a huge moment to head the second row for this afternoon's opening Bennetts BikeSocial Race ahead of title contender Tommy Bridewell and FS-3 Racing Kawasaki's Rory Skinner.

Ryan Vickers had been in contention for the pole positon earlier in the session but he will head the third row from Glenn Irwin and Danny Buchan as Gino Rea completed the top ten.

McAMS Yamaha's Jason O'Halloran will start in eleventh on the fourth row, just ahead of reigning champion Josh Brookes.
