Bennetts BSB Showdown six head for Brands Hatch finale

Monday, September 09 2019

The six riders who'll do battle for the 2019  Bennetts British Superbike Championship title were confirmed in a three-race thriller at Oulton Park at the weekend - and you can be here at Brands Hatch to see the champion crowned at the season finale on 18-20 October.

It was a last-gasp fight for the final Showdown places at Oulton Park, with Tarran Mackenzie and Peter Hickman claiming the final two spots in the weekend's last race. MotoGP convert Scott Redding and his Be Wiser Ducati teammate Josh Brookes were already confirmed title fighters alongside Tommy Bridewell, who scored his first win of the season for the Oxford Racing Ducati team at Oulton Park's Showdown decider.

Danny Buchan booked his place in the 2019 title fight in the first race at Oulton Park on Saturday, but Mackenzie and Hickman needed points in yesterday's last race to assure themselves places.

Mackenzie admitted his season had been a rollercoaster, but he was pleased to make his first Showdown appearance: "Getting into the Showdown is great, for both myself and the team as I feel we deserve to after the season we've had. I had a bit of a mid-season blip with the injury but I'm happy to be in the title fight and now we can get ready for the next three rounds."

The three-round Showdown kicks off at the Championship's only European meeting at Assen on 20-22 September before heading to Donington Park on 4-6 October and culminating in the triple-header finale at Brands Hatch on 18-20 October.

Three Bennetts BSB races - one on Saturday and two on Sunday - will headline the weekend, with a superb support line-up including action from the Dickies British Supersport and Pirelli National Superstock 600 and 1000 Championships, plus the ever-popular British Sidecars.

The event will feature a free pit walk, rider signing sessions, live music, a busy trade village and much, much more!

Discounted advance tickets are available online now, priced £39 for the whole weekend and £28 for the main raceday, with reductions for teens aged 13-15. Kids under 13 go FREE! For more details and to book, click here.
