Silver Arrows stay on top in Blancpain GT FP2 at Brands Hatch

Saturday, May 04 2019

Mercedes-AMG GT3s continued to lead the way in Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe free practice at Brands Hatch, with Luca Stolz and Maro Engel topping the times in the final session ahead of this afternoon's qualifying session.

The BLACK FALCON prepared GT3 car lapped the legendary full Grand Prix circuit in 1m22.930s to top the field by almost half a second during a truncated session which was cut seven minutes short following an off for Ezequiel Perez Companc in an Audi R8 LMS.

It was another Audi R8 LMS, that shared by Charles Weerts and Christopher Mies, which set the second fastest time of the hour-long practice session at the Kent circuit, just ahead of 2017 Brands Hatch race-winners Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart in a Lamborghini Huracan.

Companc and co-driver Dries Vanthoor still managed to set the fourth fastest time prior to the aforementioned detour into the gravel, just ahead of the Mercedes-AMG of Vincent Abril and Raffaelle Marciello which set the pace in the earlier practice session.

Ricky Collard and Marvin Kirchhofer were once again the leading Aston Martin paring.

Qualifying is scheduled to take place at 15:55.
