BTCC fight goes to the wire at Brands Hatch!

Monday, September 17 2018

The British Touring Car Championship title fight will go right until the final day of the season at Brands Hatch, with Colin Turkington, Tom Ingram, and Tom Chilton all still in the hunt.

Team BMW's Colin Turkington leads Speedworks Motorsport's Ingram by 34 points ahead of the final triple-header of the year, which takes place on the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Sunday 30 September.

Turkington has led the way for much of the season, accumulating points like it's going out of fashion, but Ingram kept himself right in the hunt last weekend at Silverstone with his third win of the season.

Chilton is the wildcard in the bunch - a further 30 points behind Ingram. Driving for the local Motorbase team, Chilton has navigated himself into outside title contention by stealth, whilst multiple race-winning drivers such as Jack Goff, Ashley Sutton, and Adam Morgan have fallen by the wayside.

Of course, it will be about much more than just the championship protagonists at the Kent circuit at the end of the month, as the BTCC heads towards the end of arguably its most competitive season. No fewer than 16 drivers have won races this year, with Sam Tordoff and Aiden Moffat the latest to join that list, and there will be plenty of hungry competitors out to add to their tally at Brands Hatch.
