Truck Racing and much more at Brands Hatch this Easter

Wednesday, March 21 2018

Brands Hatch will stage breath-taking feats of brute force both on and off the track this Easter (1/2 April), with Truck Racing headlining a busy race programme, plus England's Strongest Disabled Man and Woman contests, and a feast of family fun to celebrate the spring holiday.

The Kent circuit will be the scene of gladiatorial contests with five-tonne trucks racing at up to speeds of 100mph. The powerful machines are capable of spectacular powerslides and truck racing is renowned for daring overtaking manoeuvres from drivers who are not afraid of a bit of contact!

There will be an equally impressive sight off the track on Easter Monday with disabled athletes taking part in England's Strongest Disabled Man and Woman contests, featuring extreme strength-testing challenges. There will also be a truck pull demonstration, which is scheduled to take part on the circuit's pit straight during the lunch break. Some of the athletes took part in a World Record attempt at Brands Hatch earlier this year, successfully pulling four trucks at once.

Race-goers can enjoy a packed programme of support races, including Legends cars, pocket-sized replicas of 1930s hot rods, and Pickup Trucks, both of which are a popular attraction at truck racing events. The Kent-based BARC Tin Tops and Modified Saloon Car Championships will also appear on the bill, with West Kingsdown's Rod Birley back in his famous Ford Escort WRC car. Birley was chasing a record 625th win when the car was nearly written off in a high-speed crash last November. He claimed the landmark victory just two weeks later but is set to prove that the Escort has lost none of its speed this Easter.

The event includes a huge programme of off-track entertainment aimed at all ages, much of which is centred on Easter Monday. Thrill-seekers can ride on the huge V8-powered Red Dragon monster truck, and there's a spectacular drift stunt show from Team Maximum Lock. There will also be go-karting and racing simulators, plus a funfair with adrenaline-filled rides.

Younger visitors will have their own heated big top tent to enjoy as it's filled with free children's entertainment, including circus skills, a balloon workshop and arts and crafts. There are driving experiences for kids too, with mini monster trucks for the youngest fans as well as YoungDrive MINI sessions for 11-17 year-olds to get behind the wheel for the first time. Other attractions include a playground, bouncy castles and an Easter egg hunt.

The event also includes a live music stage and a huge show truck display, where the smartest and most colourful truck cabs will line the venue's entrance road before parading the track at the end of the event.

Tickets for Easter Truck Racing at Brands Hatch on 1/2 April are on sale now from £20 in advance, with discounts for teens and free entry for under-13s. For more information click here.
