Haslam strengthens lead before Big Brands Bash

Monday, July 09 2018

Bennetts British Superbike Championship leader Leon Haslam added to his points tally with a marvellous win at Knockhill yesterday to bolster his position going into round six at Brands Hatch on 20-21 July.

The north of the border clash saw Haslam and Jake Dixon share the spoils, with Dixon capitalising on a Haslam mistake in race one to take the points. The tables were turned in race two when Dixon led from Haslam after a dog fight at the front between five riders.

A huge moment cost Dixon the lead and he dropped back behind Haslam, who held the advantage to the line to finish ahead by 0.215s. Haslam now leads the championship from Dixon by 74 points, with Brands Hatch local Bradley Ray third going into his local round.

Ray will be flying the flag for Kent in the absence of Brands Hatch favourite Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, who is still sidelined with an injury picked up in testing. Ray took the first two races of the season at Donington Park and is in a strong position in only his second Bennetts BSB season.

The 'Big Brands Bash' as it's fondly named is a stand-out event in the Brands Hatch calendar, with a bustling campsite and fantastic live bands on Saturday night alongside two headline Bennetts BSB races and a superb support programme from Pirelli National Superstock 600/1000, British Supersport and British Sidecars.

Aside from the track action, there's the Monster Energy rig with rider appearances and a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the legendary Yamaha YZF-R1 complete with celebrity riders and an owners track parade - definitely a weekend not to be missed!

Adult tickets are £37 for the weekend if bought in advance online, with reductions for teens and kids under 13 go FREE! Save on postage too with our print-at-home ticket option. For more information and to buy, click here
