Ingram tops the charts in BTCC FP1

Saturday, April 07 2018

Tom Ingram topped the timesheets in the opening free practice session of the 2018 Dunlop British Touring Car Championship season on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this morning.

Speedworks Motorsport Toyota driver Ingram's lap time of 48.383s was just 0.056s quicker than the best effort of second place man Jack Goff (WIX Racing with Eurotech), with the top 30 cars covered by less than a second.

Tom Chilton was third fastest in his Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher Ford Focus, as he made his debut for the locally run team. Matt Simpson was third in his Honda Civic Type R, with championship returnee Sam Tordoff completing the top-five.

BTCC debutant Dan Cammish set the sixth fastest time in his first session as Gordon Shedden's replacement in the Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic Type R. Cammish's illustrious team mate Matt Neal was a bit further down the order in 16th.

Other big names with a little time to find ahead of qualifying this afternoon include Team BMW's Colin Turkington, who was ninth fastest, with reigning champion Ashley Sutton down in 13th on board his Adrian Flux Subaru Racing Levorg GT.

The BTCC cars return to the track at 12:05 for another practice session ahead of qualifying at 15:15.
