Brands Hatch GP circuit returns to action with British GT this month

Tuesday, April 05 2016

The Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit opens its gates to competitive motorsport for the first time in 2016 when the British GT Championship kicks off next weekend (16-17 April) with co-headline action from the revived BRDC British Formula 3 Championship.

The legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix layout is an all-time classic, and it's the perfect place to watch the British GT Championship's flame-spitting race-tuned, supercars at full speed. You can expect to see stunning cars from a plethora of the planet's most exotic manufacturers including Lamborghini, Aston Martin, McLaren, Bentley, and Maserati taking on the Kent circuit's longer layout, which remains an untarnished challenge with fast, sweeping corners, and undulations.

The British GT machines will star in the centrepiece two-hour endurance race on the Sunday, where pit-stops, driver changes, and a high-speed rolling start will all add to the drama. Plus, the grid is divided evenly into two classes, GT3 and GT4, meaning that there will be double the intrigue as cars battle for supremacy with a wide range of strategies throughout the field.

There will be chances to see the BRDC Formula 3 Championship in action too, as it heads to the GP circuit for three races, following its recent rebirth at Snetterton. The new-look British F3 will feature a full grid of powerful Tatuus single-seater machines, driven by the next generation of prospective F1 drivers.

There will be a busy support programme too, featuring the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, Caterham Superlight R300s, Aston Martin GT Challenge, and Motorsport News Saloon Car Championship. Plus the programme will include the first ever Grand Prix circuit outings for the exciting Mini Miglia and Mini Se7ens one-make championships.

The paddock will be open all weekend, allowing visitors to take a closer look at the cars in race preparation, and meet the teams and drivers.
