The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship's Big Brands Bash roars into life today (Friday), with the riders heading out onto the legendary Grand Prix circuit for the first time this year. In scorching summer weather, you can witness the nation's finest motorcycle racers on the spectacular Kent circuit for just £10 on the gate today.

Local hero Shane 'Shakey' Byrne leads the championship into this round on his Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki, aiming to cement his status as one of the pre-meeting favourites in today's practice sessions - but his rival, Josh Brookes, will be another man to keep an eye on today, as the Aussie scored a triple-victory on the Brands Hatch GP circuit at last season's finale.

Other riders to keep an eye out for are Tyco Suzuki's John Hopkins, making his first appearance on the longer Brands Hatch layout since his nail-biting title duel with Tommy Hill in 2011; the resurgent Ryuichi Kiyonari on his Buildbase BMW, confidence boosted by a recent return to the winner's circle; and GBmoto Racing Kawasaki rider James Ellison.

The MCE BSB stars will be on track twice today for two 45-minute practice sessions, starting at 10.10 and 16.15.

There's a full support line-up on track too: Motul British Motostar, Motorpoint British Supersport, Pirelli National Superstock 600 and 1000, Ducati TriOptions Cup, Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup, and Eastern Airways British Sidecars will all be practising and qualifying today, ahead of this weekend's racing action.

In addition to all the track action, there's live music at Brands Hatch tomorrow (Saturday) evening, with free entrance to valid MCE BSB ticket holders, headlined by former WSB Champion James Toseland and his band.

A full timetable can be downloaded here.

Tickets for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on 18-20 July are available on the gate for £10 on Friday,  £14 on Saturday and £32 on Sunday, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
