The South East Motor Sport Enthusiasts Club makes its annual pilgrimage to Brands Hatch this Saturday (22 September), for a day of sprinting and racing. The one-day format promises non-stop action from a wide variety of cars.
The event kicks off with a sprint run by the Tunbridge Wells Motor Club and a wide variety of machinery will take to the track for a spectacular series of laps run against the clock.
Racing commences with the club's Saloon and Sports Championship runs two classes, the Saloon and Sports car and Sports Racing and Kit Car categories. Both two and four wheel drive cars can be found on track, plus specials, modified saloons, one-make racing cars and prototypes and silhouettes. This makes for an eclectic field.
The Open Single Seater Championship runs for bike engine cars, Formula Ford 1600, 1800 and 2000 chassis, Formula Renault and Vauxhall cars plus other single seaters and hillclimb specials up to 2 litres. Close and competitive racing can be expected in this series.
Sports cars, kit cars and sports racers also compete in the South East Challenge series, where Lotus Seven-style cars competed alongside Global Lights and Radicals.
Meanwhile the Meridian 14/16 Challenge will be a must for fans of hatchbacks and saloons, with 1400 and 1600cc racers jostling for position.
