Aston Martin Red Bull F1 car to demo at Brands Hatch DTM event

Tuesday, July 02 2019

The sight and sound of Formula 1 returns to Brands Hatch this August when David Coulthard gets behind the wheel of an Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Grand Prix car for demo laps of the Kent circuit during the DTM German touring car event.

Coulthard, who won 13 F1 Grands Prix during a 15-year career at the sport's top level before turning his hand to presenting and commentary, will join forces with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 team to dazzle fans in the Aston Martin Red Bull RB7, as raced to the 2011 F1 World Championship crown by Sebastian Vettel. Hailing from the previous era of V8-engined F1 machinery, the RB7 will provide fans with a pulsating reminder of Grand Prix racing's much missed classic soundtrack.

The Scotsman will complete two demo runs on the full Grand Prix circuit on Sunday 11 August - a jam-packed day that includes a DTM race plus the season finale of the inaugural all-female W Series.

DTM's stunning grid of bespoke racing cars features 600bhp saloons from Audi and BMW, which will be joined on the grid by Aston Martin's latest Vantage with ex-F1 driver and former DTM champion Paul di Resta in the driving seat. Brands Hatch is the perfect arena to watch these beasts pushed to their limit on the twists and turns of the famous Grand Prix circuit.

W Series is a major addition to the event too, as the most talked-about new racing championship of 2019. A super-talented grid of female competitors will compete to be crowned champion at Brands Hatch, with British starlet Jamie Chadwick the hot favourite to scoop the top prize of $500,000 in the F3-inspired single-seater series.

Gerhard Berger, chairman of ITR, DTM's parent company, said: "Racing a Formula 1 car around Brands Hatch was a phenomenal thrill. Corners like Paddock and Clearways are special, but the fast right-handers of Hawthorn and Westfield were - and still are - corners that require massive commitment.

"To be able to bring a state-of-the-art F1 demo to Brands, and with an old friend like David behind the wheel, gives a fantastic 'extra something' to the fans. And, with DTM's new turbo cars also racing on the GP track, this is likely to be a fantastic weekend for the sport."

Tickets for the DTM event, featuring F1 demos from Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and the W Series season finale, are available in advance from £30 with FREE entry for under 13s. For more information and to book, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
