One month to go until the BTCC is back at Brands Hatch!

Wednesday, March 07 2018

With just a month to go until the new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season gets underway at Brands Hatch (7/8 April), anticipation is building for a battle royale on the Indy circuit.

The season starts with three races on Sunday 8 March, but before then all eyes will be on the Indy circuit on the previous Saturday afternoon as the drivers contest a frenetic qualifying session. With just half an hour to post a fast lap, and up to 32 cars on the 1.2-mile track, it's set to be a thriller.

Current title-holder Ashley Sutton will be one of five champions on the grid, alongside Subaru team-mate Jason Plato, BMW rivals Colin Turkington and Andrew Jordan, plus Honda's Matt Neal. Title challengers are set to include Speedworks' Tom Ingram, Motorbase's Tom Chilton and Sam Tordoff, back after a year's sabbatical from the championship, Eurotech's Jack Goff, and Ciceley's Adam Morgan.

There are many more spoilers to look out for in the field, and with a record 13 different winners in 2017, it's almost impossible to predict who will be taking the chequered flag next month. There are also several intriguing rookies to look out for, including Honda's Dan Cammish and Ciceley's Tom Oliphant, plus returning stars James Nash and Tom Boardman.

The support races are also set to provide plenty of thrills, with opening rounds of the Renault UK Clio Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Juniors and British F4. With new blood set to take on the established order in each championship, this is set to be one of the most unpredictable weekends of the season.

If the on-track action isn't enough, then there's a wealth of entertainment to look forward to in addition to the racing. All ticketholders are get free entry to the Evolution electric car show, and the opportunity to try out the latest electric vehicles on the Grand Prix loop - click here for more information.

Off-track entertainment includes car displays, go-karting, Downforce racing simulators, live music on Saturday evening from Meltin' Joel, a fairground and trade village. Younger fans can also enjoy Diggerland, Mini Monster Trucks, bouncy castles, face painting and an adventure playground.
