MSVT’s very own MINI ace Alex Nevill set for NASCAR test

Wednesday, October 31 2018

MotorSport Vision Trackdays and Brands Hatch staff member Alex Nevill will sample a NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) machine, of the spec seen frequently at the Kent circuit for American SpeedFest, next week in France.

Nevill, who spent his weekends throughout 2018 winning the MINI CHALLENGE Cooper Am class, will test the NWES machine at the Circuit De Fontenay-Le-Comte in the Pays de la Loire next Thursday (8 November).

The NWES machine Alex samples next week will differ greatly from the MINI tin top he is used to, with a silhouette stock car chassis, rear-wheel-drive, and a hulking V8.

Should Alex prove successful in the test, the championship's driver recruitment programme may reward him with funding towards a drive in the 2019 NWES which will headline American SpeedFest 7 at Brands Hatch on 1-2 June.

Either way, Alex has promised to share his experiences with us when he returns, so keep an eye out on the Brands Hatch website for a direct comparison between the NWES car and a more traditional tin top.

Alex said: "Next week I get to test a NASCAR! I'll be heading over to France to test a NASCAR Whelen Euro Series car as part of the series' driver recruitment program. From there the best drivers are awarded funding to help get them on the grid in 2019!

"I'll spare you the 'dream come true' clichés, but if you'd told this kid that one day he'd get to drive a NASCAR, he would've at least smiled. I'm hugely excited for this challenge and potential opportunity. Shake 'n' bake!"

If you fancy yourself as the next Alex Nevill, then you can get out on track yourself with MSV Trackdays, which can take you from a circuit novice to the starting grid in its very own Trackday Trophy and Trackday Championship.
