Classic Sports Cars set for Brands Hatch

Monday, July 09 2018

The Classic Sports Car Club continue their 2018 season at Brands Hatch this weekend (14-15 July). The event will run on the Indy circuit and will feature a number of the CSCC's popular series.

Racing action includes the CSCC's very popular Swinging Sixties Series, in which Jaguar E-Types, Ford Mustangs, Aston Martins, and a wide variety of other cars will battle for track position in a race solely for 1960s machinery. These contests will recall a golden era of sports, saloon, and GT racing.

Another truly old-school series to look out for is the Classic K series, which runs to Appendix K regulations, meaning that the machines are run in a specification similar to those raced in period. As a result, all of the cars in action are running without any sort of modern driver aids or aerodynamics, meaning that driver skill will be rewarded.

Outrageous modified tin tops will be a star attraction too in the Special Saloons and Modsports, with low-riding cars complete with wide bodykits. These beasts were enormously popular in the 1970s.

Series to look out for on Sunday include the Gold Arts Magnificent Sevens Series, which is for lightweight sports cars based on the original Lotus 7 design. Caterhams and Westfields are amongst the most popular track cars in the country, so expect big grids.

The paddock will be open, allowing spectators to meet the teams and drivers and take a closer look at the cars in race preparation.

Tickets for the CSCC Championships at Brands Hatch (14-15 July) are available online for £12 until midday on Wednesday or on the gate from £16 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
