Brands Hatch set for Vee Festival and Victor Meldrew Trophy

Monday, November 05 2018

Brands Hatch hosts the traditional late season Vee Festival and Victor Meldrew Trophy event this weekend (10-11 November).

Formula Vee typically produces fast and frenetic racing, with low-cost single-seaters devoid of aerodynamic bodywork in a similar manner to Formula Ford racing. The result is close racing with slipstreaming battles as the drivers work hard to break free from the chasing pack.

As ever, the Vee Festival goes hand in hand with the Victor Meldrew Trophy, which is a handicap event with a bit of a difference. Gentleman drivers will compete for on-track honours, whilst a complex handicap system ensures that everyone has a fighting chance of taking home the silverware.

This weekend's other classes include the MSVT Trackday Trophy and MSVT Trackday Championship. Organised by MSV's in-house trackday division, these series are open to a wide array of saloon and sports cars and encourage racing novices to take their enthusiam for the sport to the next level.

Sports prototypes will form part of the line-up too, with the Radical SR1 Cup, which puts relatve newcomers behind the wheel of a Le Mans-inspired, slicks-and-wings prototype, whilst Champion of Brands will offer up the final Formula Ford action of the season.

The line-up will be completed by the MSVR All-Comers, with an eclectic selection of closed-wheel racing cars.

THere will be a break in proceedings between 10:45 - 11:30 on Sunday morning for the Rememberance Day silence, during which all venue activity will cease, and a two minutes' silence will be observed.

Tickets for the Vee Festival and Victor Meldrew Trophy at Brands Hatch are available in advance for £12 until midday on Wednesday with FREE entry for under-13s. Tickets will be £16 per day on the gate thereafter. Please call 0843 453 9000 or click here for more information.
