Brands Hatch confirms superb 2020 calendar

Monday, February 24 2020

Brands Hatch will host a superb 39-event motorsport calendar this year, with everything from high-profile international events to grassroots club racing. From the DTM German touring car series to the Thundersport GB - Invicta Challenge, there will be something to see most weekends from March to November.

All eyes will be on the Kent circuit when the DTM's super-fast touring cars return to the Grand Prix circuit in August, with F1's comeback king Robert Kubica behind the wheel of a BMW M4. The weekend will feature the innovative all-female W Series single-seater championship once more too, plus special, high-speed track demonstrations.

Other international highlights include the annual visit of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for American SpeedFest 8 in June - the biggest and best celebration of fuel-injected Americana on this side of the Atlantic. 1997 F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will add a sprinkling of Grand Prix glamour to proceedings for the second year in succession at Brands Hatch's biggest family-themed festival, with car displays, themed food, music and much more.

Brands Hatch will host the best that British motor racing has to offer too, with action from all of the UK's leading championships on two, four and even six wheels. The Bennetts British Superbike Championship returns for two outings on the legendary full GP circuit, including its championship finale in October.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to the West Kingsdown venue twice too for an Easter thriller on the Indy circuit before the title-decider on the longer layout.

Meanwhile, British Truck Racing has two meetings at Brands Hatch to look forward to, with one in April before the bombastic 'big bang' fireworks spectacular in November.

GT racing will feature strongly on the 2020 calendar too with the rebranded GT Challenge Europe heading to the UK in May before its domestic cousin, the British GT Championship, arrives at Brands Hatch in August.

Themed festivals have become increasingly prominent on the circuit's calendar in recent seasons and this year is no different as the Mini Festival, Festival Italia and Ford Power Live remain on the roster. Retro racing will be celebrated in force at the Masters Historic Festival over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, whilst the Festival of Porsche returns in September after a two-year absence.

Modified car fans also have plenty on offer with Tunerfest South, featuring the UK Time Attack Championship, and the all-new Go Japan! - a celebration of everything Japanese from cool cars to Comicon characters.

As ever, the schedule includes a strong backbone of club-level events, from the opening British Motorcycle Racing Club event of the year on 7-8 March, to the BARC 'Into the Night' races under darkness at the tail end of the season. Other club events with distinct identities of their own include the early season Thundersport GB club bike meeting, a mid-season visit from the Ferrari Challenge UK, and the traditional October Formula Ford Festival.
