Historic Grand Prix racing returns to Brands Hatch GP this weekend

Monday, June 24 2019

Brands Hatch will head back to the past this weekend (29-30 June) with two days of historic action courtesy of the Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix. On-track entertainment will include a fascinating array of historic Grand Prix cars, saloon cars and sports cars action on the full Grand Prix circuit.

The XL Aurora Trophy will bring a unique range of immensely powerful Formula 5000, Formula 2 and Formula Atlantic vehicles to the track for two unmissable races across the weekend. These stunning machines feature slick tyres and big wings with drivers set to howl their way around the venue.

Further single-seater action can be found within the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association (HGCPA) races as some of the oldest and most iconic racing machines go wheel-to-wheel. Expect to see machines similar to those raced by drivers such as Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn and Juan Manuel Fangio.

The Dunlop Saloon Car Cup will bring a range of fantastic touring car machinery to Kent this weekend with vehicles from 1970 to 2006 set to recreate the British Touring Car Championship's heyday. Vehicles and drivers alike will no doubt produce some fast and frenetic action, packed with plenty of wheel-to-wheel battles.

The Historic Formula Ford championship provides some of the most enthralling single-seater racing with drivers competing in cars built and raced before 1972. With a complete lack of aerodynamics, much of the speed is down to driver ability resulting in some of the most entertaining on-track battles.

Other series to look out for include the Guards Trophy featuring a range of GT and sports cars that raced internationally before 1966. Stunning vehicles such as Chevron B8s, Jaguar E-types and Lotus Elans are just a handful of the most popular machines frequenting the series.

Another truly old-school series to look out for is the Historic Road Sports series with road-legal historic sports cars battling it out on track. This series caters for machines built and registered between 1947 and 1969 and extra points are awarded to competitors for driving the vehicle to and from the circuit.

The historic theme will continue off-track too, with a wealth of stunning cars on display on Sunday providing you the opportunity to take a look at some classic motoring icons. Plus, the Triumph Stag Owners Club will take to the circuit during Sunday's lunch break for a number of parade laps.

Tickets for the Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix (29-30 June) are available online for £20 per day or £30 for the weekend, available until midday on Thursday (27 June). After this date tickets will be available on the gate for £25 per day with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
