BTCC’s Aiden Moffat straps into Laser Tools A-Class for 2018

Wednesday, February 14 2018

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race-winner Aiden Moffat has confirmed that he will contest the 2018 season at the wheel of the Laser Tools Racing Mercedes A-Class. The championship gets underway at Brands Hatch on 7/8 April.

Scottish racer Aiden Moffat broke through into the winners' circle in 2017 with a maiden victory at Donington Park followed up by further success in the final meeting of the season on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. The confirmation of his 2018 plans follows news that Cicely Racing, which has run the Laser Tools A-Class at BTCC events, will be expanding to a two-car operation.

"The BTCC is where we're going to stay," said Aiden. "It's a fantastic championship and as a team we're constantly improving.

"We've also made headway with our Mercedes over the course of 2017 and we've got a lot of development planned before the 2018 season starts. We've particularly been looking at the car's aerodynamics and we've made some bodywork modifications that we feel could give us quite a significant performance benefit.

"Saying that, through the closing rounds at Brands Hatch, the car felt very good indeed. I had great pace and I could place it wherever I wanted. I'm very confident in what's underneath me and feel that we're in a great position.

"I've really enjoyed my time in the BTCC so far. It's my fifth season now and that second win at the end of last year was a just reward for everyone involved. The BTCC is unique - there's no other championship in the world that's as closely contested and every success is a terrific achievement for all of the team."
