Stuart Oliver heads truck qualifying ahead of Brands opener

Stuart Oliver topped the Division 1 qualifying session for this weekend's opening rounds of the 2017 British Truck Racing Championship season at Brands Hatch today (Friday). The ten-time champion was over half a second quicker than his closest rival.

Oliver headed the order with his new, bonneted Volvo truck, and was the only man to lap the Indy circuit in under a minute for much of the 15-minute session. He headed fellow multiple champion Mat Summerfield by over six tenths of a second, until Ray Coleman went a tenth quicker with his new MAN truck in the final moments. Then Luke Taylor went second in his new MAN machine, joining Oliver in the sub-one munute bracket.

Behind Summerfield, Shane Brereton was fifth, heading 2011 champion David Jenkins, Oly Janes, Michael Oliver, Frans Smit and reigning champion Ryan Smith.
