MSVR launches 2017 racing season at Brands Hatch

Tuesday, February 14 2017

MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) launched its 2017 motor racing season at Brands Hatch today (Tuesday) with its traditional season launch event, featuring a full afternoon's testing on the Indy circuit, media interviews, and photo shoots.

2017 will be another significant season for MSV's in-house race-organising division, which confirmed a portfolio of no fewer than 28 championships and series, including several exciting new additions to the roster. Fresh inclusions for this season include the all-new Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship, for genuine Le Mans prototypes, which benefits from the official backing of Le Mans 24 Hours-organiser, the ACO.

Other headline additions include the show-stopping SsangYong Racing Challenge for utility pickup trucks, the Z Cars series for BMW Z3s and Z4s, and the Super 7 Series - the latest UK-based option for drivers aiming to race lightweight Caterham sports roadsters.

The BRDC British F3 Championship remains the highest profile championship under MSVR's stewardship, and is set for another intense year starring international talents with sights firmly on Grand Prix glory. BRDC British F3 will co-headline all of this season's British GT Championship events - including the prestigious 'away' fixture at Spa Francorchamps.

Other categories joining BRDC British F3 on the high-profile GT package will include the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup, which moves under the MSVR banner this year, and its sister series, the Maximumgroup.net VAG Trophy - both cater for cars from the Volkswagen Group. MINI CHALLENGE will be part of the same package, in what is set to be a groundbreaking year for the single-make series, as it expands to three grids due to the demand for entries across the classes.

Sports car enthusiasts will be well looked after this year, with plenty of options in addition to the new LMP3s, with the multi-class, multi-make GT Cup championship returning, alongside a plethora of one-make championships and series from Lotus and Radical. Both of these offer everything from grassroots, entry-level national contests, to full-scale European championships with rounds at F1-standard circuits.

MSVR's single-seater fraternity will be as strong as ever this year too, with F3 Cup returning to offer high-downforce slicks-and-wings action for gentleman drivers and aspiring pros, whilst Champion of Brands and Superseries continue to provide cut and thrust Formula Ford 1600 action. If your single-seater fails to conform to any of the above, then there is always Monoposto which offers club racing in the Grand Prix style to the masses across many classes.

Plus, for fun cost-effective saloon car racing, the Toyo Tires Production BMW Championship and Toyo Tires Racing Saloons return, whilst MSVT's Trackday Championship and Trackday Trophy - designed to bring total racing rookies into the world of competitive motor racing - are both back as well.

MSVR's line-up of racing series is completed by the MSVR All-Comers for any closed-wheel car, though the organisation continues to be involved with the running of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship.

In addition to running these full-time championships and series, MSVR is also involved with the running of major events across the country, such as both UK rounds of the Blancpain GT Series, track activity at Chris Evan's CarFest events, and other significant themed events such as American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch.

MSVR Race Operations Manager Dave Scott commented: "I'm thrilled that MSVR is in such a strong position at the start of the 2017 motor racing season. We have a fantastic line-up of championships and series running with us this year, and I'm looking forward to working with all of the coordinators and competitors as the year progresses. We have a fantastic team at MSVR, not just the full-time team based at Brands Hatch, but also our hard-working race weekend volunteers and we're all committed to delivering another memorable season that's enjoyable for competitors, fans, and everybody else involved."
