Two out of two for Luke Garrett as Stuart Oliver strikes back

Saturday, November 07 2015

Luke Garrett doubled up on his British Truck Racing Championship race one victory at Brands Hatch today (Saturday), doing enough to take the Division Two championship into the final day of the season, as Stuart Oliver headed title rival Mat Summerfield in the top class.

Trevor Martin led the proceedings early on as Oliver quickly established the Division One lead, but rival Summerfield was swiftly working his way up the order. In the Division Two pack, Garrett was fighting towards the front of the field in contrast to Steven Powell, who appeared to be struggling at the rear of the group.

Meanwhile, Ryan Colson spun out of second place at Druids, and with Oly Janes also off at Clearways, the race was red flagged.

Colson made the most of his red flag-reprieve to the lead the restart, before giving best to Garrett, as behind them, Summerfield claimed second in the Division One fight.

The race remained on a knife-edge for the duration; Summerfield held station behind Oliver to minimise his points loss to just one as behind him, David Jenkins fought Simon Reid and Ryan Smith for third place in class.

In Division Two, Powell tried hard to take third place, and with it the championship, but was unable to pass Colson despite a few attempts at Druids. This kept Adam Bint safe in second place. Meanwhile, Oliver and Summerfield passed the battle, but the pair were unable to catch Garrett, who took his second overall win of the weekend.

The first of tomorrow's title-deciding races will take place at 11:30am and is preceded by a grid walk open to all spectators.
