Brands Hatch set for Trucks and Fireworks family Sunday

Saturday, November 07 2015

Brands Hatch is set for a day of family fun today (Sunday), headlined by the final, title-deciding rounds of the 2015 British Truck Racing Championship and a huge fireworks display.

Two championships will be settled in the British Truck Racing Championship, where multiple champions Mat Summerfield and Stuart Oliver will fight out the Division One title in a clash of the titans. Reigning champion Summerfield is just seven points ahead of ten-time winner Oliver, and the former is gunning for his fourth title in a row.

Meanwhile, West Kingsdown's Steven Powell is 29 points clear of Luke Garrett for the Division Two title. Garrett won both of Saturday's rounds, but with ten points for a class win in each of the last three races, he'll need to outscore Powell by at least nine points in Sunday's opening encounter. With reverse grids and plenty of bumping and barging at up to 100mph, anything can happen in truck racing, and often does!

There's also a seven-race supporting programme from pocket-rocket Legends cars, NASCAR-style Pickup Trucks, and the Motorsport News Saloon Championship to look forward to, before a huge parade of showtrucks, which will fill Colin Chapman Way throughout the day, will take to the track ahead of the fireworks display at approximately 5:00pm.

The day will also feature a host of off-track family-themed entertainment, including marquees packed with fun for kids of all ages, a fairground and sidestalls, monster truck rides, MINI YoungDrive taster sessions, and a VIP gridwalk before the opening truck race of the day. The gridwalk is free to all, and will start at 10:50am, with two minutes' silence on the grid at 11am to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Track action begins at 10:00am - click here to download a timetable.
