MSV completes winter maintenance circuit programme

Wednesday, January 22 2014

MSV has been carrying out extensive works at its circuits this winter as part of its annual maintenance programme, with track activity about to get underway for the 2014 season.

At Brands Hatch, resurfacing work has been carried out in the Pit Lane, whilst the run-off areas at Paddock Hill, Graham Hill and Surtees corners have been improved. "We are entirely resurfacing the Pit Lane area with a much higher grade material. This will smarten it up dramatically, it'll be freshly marked out to the latest FIA spec and it'll improve the experience for all of our customers and competitors," said Circuit Manager Mike Groves.

Drivers and riders at Oulton Park will also benefit from resurfacing work. The Shell hairpin, which will be used by the British Touring Car Championship for the first time in over a decade, Britten's chicane and Druids corners have been resurfaced.

Circuit Manager Simon Bonser said: "MSV has invested in resurfacing key corners at Oulton Park this winter as part of our phased resurfacing plan. In total over 6000 square metres of tarmac has been laid at the track. Having driven these bends myself I think that our customers will really notice the difference - the track now feels much smoother and I'll be surprised if lap times aren't a little faster as a result."

Kerb work has been undertaken around the Snetterton 300 circuit, where these have been lengthened and widened, whilst the tyre wall at Nelson corner has been replaced. The Armco at the exit of Williams corner, which leads onto the Bentley Straight, and Brundle has been upgraded, whilst improvements have been made to the paddock and circuit office facilities.

"We have taken the opportunity to improve the track and facilities for both competitors and trackday customers, building upon the circuit's transformation three years ago," said Circuit Manager Jamie Hopper.
