Dutch Supercar Challenge returns to Brands Hatch in 2014

Tuesday, October 15 2013

The Supercar Challenge will return to Brands Hatch for the first time in eight years in 2014, with a provisional date of 13/14 September on the historic Grand Prix circuit.

The Kent circuit will take its place alongside other iconic European circuits including Zandvoort, Nürburgring, Spa and Zolder on their provisional 2014 calendar.

The Holland-based championship hosts three different classes: one filled with powerful GT cars from GT3, GT2 and GT1, one for saloons and touring cars and another for prototypes (Superlights). Each class is expected to run separately with three races on Saturday 13 September and three more on Sunday 14 September, including a two-hour endurance race for the Superlights class.

Dick van Elk, Supercar Challenge organiser, said: "We are delighted to be coming to Brands Hatch; we came in 2006 on the GP track and it's nice to be back. I drove it in 2006 myself and have some unfinished business; I joined the Paddock Hill club as a Flying Dutchman and rolled five or six times!

"It's been a long-term wish, we're happy to be back. It's one of the most beautiful circuits in Europe, especially the GP track, and it's the perfect opportunity for us to show the Supercar Challenge to the English fans."

A number of British drivers ply their trade in the Supercar Challenge, including BRDC Rising Star and 2011 British GT champion Glynn Geddie, who races alongside his father Jim with United Autosports. The Scottish duo has three wins from their last four races.

"We have a lot of British drivers such as Aaron Scott, Craig Wilkens and Martin Short because we visit nice circuits such as Spa, Nurburgring, Zolder and Zandvoort.

"We broadcast all of our races on Motors TV in the UK so it's nice to be there and on the home ground for many of British drivers." van Elk added.

The Dutch Supercar Challenge is expected to visit Brands Hatch GP on the weekend of 13/14 September 2014. More details will be announced in due course.
