Lotus Cars and Lotus Racing get set for Brands Hatch festival

Thursday, August 16 2012

Lotus Cars and Lotus Racing will be supporting this weekend's Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch (18/19 August) with a strong line-up both on and off track. In addition to the current range, their latest racers will be entertaining the crowd with high-speed demonstration runs at 1:20pm on the Sunday.

Fans will be able to get a close look at the Lotus range on the company's stand at the event. A new supercharged version of the acclaimed Elise two-seater sportscar will be on display, whilst the brand new Exige S, powered by a V6 engine for the first time, has wowed the critics. The more refined Evora will also be present in both normally-aspirated and supercharged guises.

Evoras will also be out on track, starting with the GTS racing variant that has been specially built for privateer entrants. The more extreme Evora GX, designed to enter the US-based Grand Am series' new GX class, will be a spectacular addition to the event.

However the most anticipated demonstration will be the T125, the company's flagship model and the closest many drivers will get to Formula 1. Just 25 cars will be built, powered by a 640bhp 3.5 litre Cosworth V8 engine, linked to a six-speed gearbox with paddle shift. The car's featherweight 560kg results in a phenomenal power-to-weight of nearly 1000bhp per tonne. At the other end of the scale the Lotus Go-Kart makes the marque the only one represented in F1 that offers a step at the entry level of the sport.

Drivers interested in racing will also be able to check out the Evora GT4 and Exige V6 Cup cars that are eligible to race in the Lotus Cup series. With the racing programme headlined by Lotus Cup UK, those that are keen to get involved can race in the top V6 class with either of these racers. The trackday version of the brand new Exige V6 Cup will also be on display, for those seeking the ultimate road and circuit car.

The Lotus Cars and Racing stands can be located opposite the Brabham/Stewart Hospitality suites, which line the start/finish straight.

Tickets for the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch this weekend are available on the gate for £21, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
