Summerfield heads Trucks Division 1 Warm Up ahead of Qualifying

Saturday, April 21 2012

Matt Summerfield was fastest in the Division 1 Warm Up session ahead of this weekend's Delphi British Truck Racing Championship round at Brands Hatch.

Summerfield was the early pacesetter, from reigning champion David Jenkins, the joint championship leaders resuming their rivalry.

Summerfield was the first man under a minute on the Indy circuit and as the leading pair pitted midway through, Steve Thomas worked on closing the gap.

Local man Steven Powell was enduring a torrid session, having completed only one lap nearly ten seconds off the pace after a last-minute clutch change to get him to the meeting.

However very little changed in the final moments of the session and behind the leading trio of Summerfield, Jenkins and Thomas, Heinz-Werner Lenz took fourth, from Richard Collett, Ben Horne, Luke Taylor and Cees Zandbergen. Powell was unable to rejoin the field and his team will be working hard to prepare the car for qualifying.

The Division 2 machines are out for qualifying first, at 11:55.
