Bumper grid expected for Halloween Trucks this weekend

Friday, October 28 2011

This weekend (29-30 October) marks the final round of the Delphi British Truck Racing Championship which takes place on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, with a capacity grid expected.

A total of four races will take place over the course of the two days, including a non-championship 'Brands Hatch Cup Race' on Sunday afternoon, which if last year's example is anything to go by, should be a sight to behold, as champion Stuart Oliver secured a sensational win from the back of the grid.

Bumper grids are expected at Brands Hatch this weekend, as Jon Reeves from the BTRA explains; "All the drivers enjoy Brands Hatch - it's well-suited for close racing, and as a result there's a full entry for this weekend. Class A has doubled and they're all serious professional teams, so it's looking very good.

"Class B also has a huge amount of local interest and there's a strong Southern contingent whereas previously a lot of the drivers were based in the Midlands, so it's a home race for many" Reeves added.

The championships may have been decided, but Class A Champion Dave Jenkins is still eagerly anticipating this weekend.

"I'm looking forward to Brands, we always feel welcome here - there's a good crowd and exciting racing. It's nice that there's no pressure" Jenkins remarked.

"The championship may be over, but there's still lots to look out for, and I'll be keeping an eye out for Matt Summerfield, Ricky Collett and Terry Gibbon."

As well as the racing on track, there's a host of activity at Brands Hatch with pumpkin carving, broomstick relay races, ghost hunts, go karting and the Brands Hatch TerrorZone all open on Sunday. For a map of all activities taking place click here.
