Sports-Prototypes set to appear at Masters Historic Festival

Thursday, February 10 2011

Organisers of the Masters Historic Festival, due to be held at Brands Hatch on the late May Bank Holiday weekend have announced that a grid of monstrous Sports-Prototypes will take to the track at the three day event.

The category, to be known as Masters Sports-Prototypes, will feature machinery that ran in the World Sports Prototype Championship in the 1980s and early 1990s, and will feature cars from the legendary Group C/GTP and IMSA categories.

The events will feature two races, the first being a 20-30 minute feature race and the second an extended 40-60 minute pit stop race.

Series Co-ordinator Sean Roberts said: "I am very pleased with the positive response that we have had so far from competitors with appropriate Sports-Prototypes as well as existing historic racers who are sourcing and preparing such cars to race in Masters Sports-Prototypes.

"We can offer Masters Sports-Prototype drivers a great racing calendar at historic events for 2011 within the camaraderie of the established Masters paddock, as well as the added bonus of Masters hospitality at each event."

Tickets for the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch on 28-30 May 2011 are available from £17 with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
