BTCC machines turn in pre-season testing mileage

Wednesday, February 09 2011

Three vehicles from the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship took to the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this week for a pre-season test, including the Next Generation Touring Car prototype in the hands of GT racer Matt Griffin.

Griffin was joined at the West Kingsdown circuit by Pirtek Racing duo Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith, who began set-up work on their Vauxhall Vectras ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch on 2/3 April.

Whilst Griffin concentrated on putting the Toyota Avensis prototype NGTC car through some component durability tests, the Pirtek duo focussed on familiarising themselves with the Vectra's new NGTC specifications.

"The TOCA engine has had more development on it over the winter and everything feels really good straight out of the blocks," Jordan told BTCC.net. "Already our lap times are looking good compared to what we achieved around here last year and that's before we've even got started on chassis tweaks."

Advance tickets for the opening round of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on 2/3 April are now available from £25 for adults. Entry is free for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the link below.
