Bank Holiday bonanza of club racing at Brands Hatch this weekend

Sunday, April 24 2011

Brands Hatch is gearing up to welcome no less than 12 series to the venue this weekend (30 April/1 May) as MotorSport Vision (MSVR) prepares for a Bank Holiday bonanza of club racing.

Saturday's action features a mix of single seater and saloon cars, with action from the Monoposto championships and Champion of Brands series for Formula Ford cars. Monoposto is open to many varieties of single seaters including Formula Three and Formula Renault.

This weekend a star of the past will take part in the Champion of Brands events, with ex-F1 driver Roberto Moreno expected to line up on the grid.

The Cannon's motor spares tin top series takes on an international look this Saturday at Brands Hatch. Five drivers from Ireland and one from Barbados will be joining the regulars to make a capacity grid. All five will be driving Fiat Puntos. The Barbados driver is Simon Gilmore, who previously raced in the UK over 20 years ago and now races at the Bushy Park raceway, where he finished sixth on Monday.

Simon has borrowed a Vauxhall Astra for this weekend's MSVR meeting, courtesy of Alex Hughes. The deal was put together by local driver Rod Birley, who will also be racing in the Dunlop Motorsport News saloons on Sunday in his familiar Ford Escort WRC.

There will be additiobnal action from the Project 8 Racing Saloons series, while a flavour of Bavaria will grace Kent with action from the Production BMW, Superpro VAG and Golf GTI Championships. Japanese machines will line up with races from the MR2 and Nippon Challenge series.

Completing the line up are races from the South East Motor Sport Enthusiasts Club (SEMSEC).

Tickets for MSVR at Brands Hatch on 30 April & 1 May are available from £10 with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
