Brands Hatch prepares to host 39th Formula Ford Festival

Sunday, October 10 2010

The world-famous Formula Ford Festival returns to Brands Hatch this weekend (16/17 October) for the 39th running of the annual single seater extravaganza.

This is the one festival that every young driver aspires to win, with many past victors graduating to Formula One. Notable Festival winners include Johnny Herbert, Eddie Irvine, Mark Webber, Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson.

Favourites for this year's crown include 2010 Formula Ford Champion Scott Pye, who will be looking to follow in fellow countryman Webber's shoes. Other leading contenders include Scott Malvern, Dan Cammish and Tio Ellinas.

Josh Hill, son of 1996 F1 champion Damon, is also one to look for, and he hit a rich vein of form in the closing stages of the main British championship season scoring eight podiums in 12 races including three wins.

Tellingly the last time they raced on the Indy circuit, at the supporting DTM event in September, honours were equal between Pye and Hill with both taking a win and a second.

The main winner will come from the Duratec class, but there will also be champions crowned in the Kent and Zetec categories for older machinery.

On the supporting bill for the festival include the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Challenge, Sports 2000 and BRSCC F3.

Tickets for the 2010 Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch on 16/17 October are available from £10 for adults, with free entry for children ages 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
