Tin top stars to compete in Britcar into the night race this weekend

Friday, November 12 2010

This Saturday's (13 November) Brands Hatch season finale will feature two rather familiar faces, as World Touring Car front-runner Rob Huff and British Touring Car race winner Alex MacDowall are set to compete in the Britcar into the night race.

Huff will pilot a yellow Acquila CR1 which he tested on the Indy circuit earlier this week, whilst Alex and his father Ray will compete in a Total Control Racing-run Ginetta G50.

The MacDowall family's Britcar outing is a first step into GT racing for Total Control, which is eyeing a potential switch to sportscars after running machinery in BTCC support race the Ginetta G50 Cup during 2010.

"The opportunity to run one of our Ginetta G50 cars in this weekend's Britcar race presented itself and Ray and Alex were keen to team up and give it a go," said Total Control Racing team principal Lee Brookes. "Obviously it's a different style of racing for us but well be giving it 100 per cent effort and commitment as usual."

Like MacDowall and his team, Huff will be taking a step away from his usual machinery to race the Acquila, as the 30-year-old has also been testing the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze in Kent this week.

The Britcar into the night race is Brands Hatch's only race to take place in darkness, and the headline race will begin at 5.00pm on Saturday.

Tickets for the Britcar into the night race at Brands Hatch on Saturday 13 November cost £12 on the gate for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
