Brands Hatch prepares for Beaujolais Run launch

Thursday, November 11 2010

Brands Hatch is revving up for the launch of the 2010 Beaujolais Run on Tuesday morning (16 November), and spectators are welcome to attend this exciting event for a £5 charitable donation.

The Beaujolais Run is a unique charity driving experience in which competitors navigate their way along a cryptic checkpoint course from a UK location to Burgundy, France.

Thirty five cars have been confirmed for this year's event and, as well as providing money-can't-buy experiences for those taking part, the Run will be raising money for the Henry Surtees Foundation.

To celebrate 60 years of Formula One, Nigel Mansell OBE will take up the role as starter of the Beaujolais Run at Brands Hatch on Tuesday, supported by the Run's patron John Surtees OBE and MotorSport Vision Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer.

The launch will begin at 9.00am with a demonstration lap by the first ever Surtees F1 car, which ran for the first time in the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch in 1970.

The vehicles competing in this year's event will then complete three laps of the Indy circuit - waved off on their journey by Nigel Mansell - to bring the launch to a close at 9.30am.

Spectators are welcome to attend the Beaujolais Run launch and watch from the banking in front of the Pit Straight Grandstand. A donation of £5 per car will be collected on your arrival at the circuit, which will be added towards the events overall fundraising efforts for the Henry Surtees Foundation.
