Mat Jackson and Steven Kane confirmed for Motorbase Performance

Tuesday, March 23 2010

Wrotham-based team Motorbase Performance has unveiled its driver line-up for the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, with top drivers Mat Jackson and Steven Kane piloting a pair of BMW 320sis.

Jackson joins the Kent squad after a successful season with the Racing Silverline Chevrolet team in 2009.

However, the 28-year-old already has experience racing rear-wheel-drive vehicles after finishing as runner-up in the 2008 title chase in his family-run Jackson Motorsport BMW.

"It's fantastic to be back in a BMW and with Airwaves on board its definitely time to kick up a gear!" said Jackson. "It would be an understatement to say that exciting times lie ahead. I feel this could be a great partnership - all of the team have the same focus and mine is no different: to win."

2010 marks Kane's return to the Motorbase fold after a year's absence, during which he undertook the role of official test driver for the FIA Formula Two Championship.

"It's great to be back in the BTCC, especially with Motorbase Performance and Airwaves BMW the last time I raced the BMW at Brands Hatch, I finished second twice," said Kane. "I tested the car at the end of last year, back at Brands Hatch, and its very clear the team, and car, have moved on. I have great respect for David and I think he has really put a great team together - with Mat, I will have a fantastic team-mate and I'm sure we will form a good partnership both on and off the track. This will enable both of us to have a real good shout for the title!"

Motorbase Performance Team Principal David Bartrum added: "Frankly, I couldnt be happier. We know Stevens potential well, having worked with him in the Carrera Cup before the BTCC, but then the chance to add Mat to the line-up was something really worth working for - his record in just three seasons in the BTCC speaks for itself."

The Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit will host the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on 1/2 May. Tickets are now on sale from £24 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
