BSB set for epic Easter clash at Brands Hatch

Monday, March 22 2010

Brands Hatch is gearing up for its first major event of the season this coming Easter weekend (2-4 April) when the famous Kent circuit hosts the first round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.

The Bank Holiday event is set to be one of the biggest on the 2010 calendar, featuring an impressive 18 races from nine different championships. It marks the much-anticipated return of former world champion Neil Hodgson and double BSB champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, as well as BSB race winner and crowd favourite Yukio Kagayama.

2003 World Superbike champion Neil Hodgson said: "I am really excited about my BSB return as it has been a dream of mine to come back since I last won the title in 2000. I can't wait to compete again where you can feel the atmosphere and the build up to the race. We have had good pre-season tests in Spain and I am as motivated now as I was ten years ago when I won the title, if not more. We are really ready to get the job done at Brands Hatch."

The returning heroes will take on the established BSB big-hitters from 2009, including Josh Brookes. The Australian has re-signed for the HM Plant Honda team and will be looking to build on a series of consecutive podiums at the end of last season. Lingfield racer Tommy Hill has shown front-running pace in pre-season testing and will be targeting wins on his Worx Crescent Suzuki at his local circuit, and the formidable Swan Hondas of James Ellison and Stuart Easton last years runners-up will also be in contention.

This season is set to be one of the most unpredictable in years, with nothing to split the main contenders in testing. More than 30 riders will be battling for wins in BSB, with a total of eight different manufacturers Ducati are back this season with Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp on-board, whilst KTM, Aprilia and BMW are all making their debuts in the worlds best domestic bike championship.

The four-day Easter extravaganza gets underway on Good Friday, with practice sessions for BSB and support championships followed by races from the MRO Superteen and the Ducati Desmo Due Championships. The superb support package includes races from the Bonhams British Historic GP Championship for 500cc and 350cc Grand Prix machines from the 50s and early 60s, and the Swan Combi Challenge F2 Sidecars.

Advance adult raceday tickets are available from £24, with free parking and free entry for children aged 12 and under. For maximum value this Easter weekend you can book advance adult weekend tickets, valid for all four days, from just £29. For more information, call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
