Stuart Oliver streaks to Class A victory

Sunday, April 18 2010

Multiple national champion Stuart Oliver clinched a dominant victory in the first Class A race from the Delphi British Truck Racing Association Championship at Brands Hatch today (Sunday).

It was the MAN TGS of Chris Levett that started the eight lap encounter from pole position, but the Birds Motorsport-backed machine slowed dramatically on the first run up to Druids, allowing Oliver to take the lead.

After dropping to the back of the field, Levett briefly picked up his pace but slowed again on lap four and was forced to retire to the pits.

Once he charged through to the lead there was no stopping Oliver, who dominated the race to win by an impressive five second margin. "I got up alongside Chris Levett at Paddock Hill Bend but I didn't know where he'd disappeared to after that!" said Oliver. "However, it's going to be hard work to retain my title this year as Chris has a good machine and a good team behind him."

Levett's mechanical troubles promoted the MAN ERF of Matt Summerfield to second place, whilst David Jenkins leapt from fifth on the grid to third place on the opening lap and fended off a charging Ricky Collett to secure the final podium position.

Adam Atkins was the final Class A finisher, crossing the line in fifth place.

Both truck classes will join together for the last chance race at 2.35pm, before the grand final event at 5.20pm.

Tickets for the Brands Hatch Truck Superprix today (Sunday 18 April) cost £21 on the gate for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
