Stuart Oliver clinches hat trick in Truck Superprix Grand Final

Sunday, April 18 2010

Nine-time British Truck Racing Association Champion Stuart Oliver has secured a hat trick of victories at Brands Hatch today (Sunday 18 April) after taking the spoils in the Grand Final at the Truck Superprix.

After winning the last chance shootout earlier on today, Oliver started the final encounter of the day from pole position and led from lights to flag, cementing his position as the country's leading truck racing talent. He also scooped victory in the first Class A race of the day, giving him a healthy lead in the overall championship standings.

Behind Oliver's commanding display there were a number of exciting tussles for podium positions. Matt Summerfield passed his main rival David Jenkins on the run into Paddock Hill Bend for the first time to secure second place, however a race-long battle raged for third between Jenkins and Ricky Collett.

The pair went side by side on several occasions, Collett getting out of shape at both Paddock Hill and Graham Hill Bend whilst making a herculean effort to snatch the final podium spot, but eventually settled for fourth position.

Kent racer Graham Powell dominated the Class B competition, also securing his third category victory of the day after fending off a solid challenge from Ben Horne's Volvo.

Like the Class A contest, the remaining prize spot was hotly contested as an ongoing fight raged between Brian Burt, Steven Powell and Andy Lovenberry.

Trips across the grass and gravel at Clearways and Druids brought Lovenberry's podium challenge to an end, whilst after several attempts a determined Brian Burt snatched third from Powell to score his first top three finish of the weekend.
